cool kids beds

Lately, I have been noticing a trend in playhouse beds for kids. Have you seen them? It’s like the ultimate fort that you never take down. And, if you know kids, than you know that they love forts and hate taking them down.
I love this concept, because first and foremost it’s just plain fun, but also because there is a lot of attention on design. It’s almost like designing a mini house within your home. The detail starts with the shape, plays a part in the entrance and the outside and can continue on to the inside. The possibilities are endless.

Shipping Container Ideas House, store, Studios

This shipping container studio is the work of English architect James Whitaker who transforms freight units into a spacious studio. His workspace boasts a contemporary look but is actually budget-friendly thanks to its sustainable materials.

The low-cost workspace is made from stacked marine containers that are fitted with large glass panels. Its windows draw the sun's rays in and project light outdoors at night. This shipping container studio may only be a concept so far but is a great example of how architects are working to encourage sustainable design practices.

This particular project makes use of old freight containers and illustrates their versatility as an up-cycled building material. This project also draws inspiration from modernist design practices and plays with linear elements in an unexpected way.

Landmark Cardboard Cat Shelters

Inspired By Iconic Architectural Structures

Pet supply store 'Poopy Cat,' which is based in Amsterdam, is known for creating innovative products for cats. The uniquely named company recently came out with a series of cat shelters that are modeled after various famous architectural landmarks from around the world.

The cat shelters include models of the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Great Sphinx of Giza, Pagoda temples and the White House. Built for cats to sleep or play in, they are made up entirely of cardboard and are "produced responsibly." The shelters come in separate pieces and can be put together.

For those who like to spoil their cats or just think that these cardboard shelters are interesting to look at, these shelters would be a creative addition to their home. Landmark Cardboard Cat SheltersEclectic Cat SheltersCardboard Cat Houses
