The month of Muharrom is one of four months glorified by Allah SWT. Besides the noble Muharrom, three other months glorified by Allah SWT are Dzulqa'dah, Dzulhijjah, and Rojab. Allah SWT sets this four-month glory in his word,
إن عدة الشهور عند الله اثنا عشر شهرا في كتاب الله يوم خلق السماوات والأرض منها أربعة حرم ذلك الدين القيم فلا تظلموا فيهن أنفسكم
"Verily the number of months in the sight of Allah is twelve months, in God's decree when He created the heavens and the earth, among them four unclean months. That is a straight religion. So do not Persecute yourself in the fourth month "(Surat at-Tawbah: 36).
And made clear by the words of the Prophet Muhammad,
إن الزمان قد استدار كهيئته يوم خلق الله السموات والأرض, السنة اثنا عشر شهرا, منها أربعة حرم, ثلاث متواليات: ذو القعدة, وذو الحجة, والمحرم, ورجب مضر الذي بين جمادى, وشعبان
"Surely time is spinning like it was when God created the heavens and the earth. That year twelve months, including four illegitimate months. Three consecutive months; Dzulqa'idah, Dzulhijjah, and Muharram. Whereas Rojab (the month that is honored by the tribes) Mudhar, is between the final month and sya'ban ". (HR Bukhari and Muslim)
The above verses and hadith indicate that the month of Muharrom is a month that has virtue (fadlilah), because the month of Muharrom is among the months that are respected and glorified. Conversely, taking actions that lead to ma’shiyat in an unlawful month, is a form of humiliation, or disrespect for illegitimate months. We can imagine, our Lord and our Prophet just glorify the illegitimate months (Dzulqa'dah, Dhulhijjah, Muharrom, and Rojab)! So, what about us, who are only a creator, and this despicable slave servant? May Allah SWT help us to be able to respect and glorify everything that is glorified by Allah SWT and His Prophet, aamiin.
My brother, whom I praise, all right, inshaAllah, we will explain in brief and in detail, all the things we need to do to honor and glorify this month of Muharrom glorified by Allah. Of course, all the things that God willing, we will convey are practices that are taught by our Lord, the Majesty of the Prophet Muhammad, and his heirs who pray (Ulama 'Salafuna Ash Shoolih).
1. Sunnah Fasting on the Month of Muharrom.
A. Fasting on the 10th which is called fasting uro Asuro, as mentioned in the hadith:
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (هذا يوم عاشوراء ولم يكتب الله عليكم صيامه وأنا صائم فمن شاء فليصم ومن شاء فليفطر)
Prophet Muhammad SAW said: "This (10 Muharrom) is the day of 'Ashuro and Allah does not oblige fasting on you and now I fast, then whoever wants to please fast and who does not want to please break (not fast)" (Narrated by Bukhori: 1899 and Muslim: 2653)
B. With the reward will be forgiven the sins of the past year:
صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاء ، أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ
"From Abu Qatadah -radhiyallahu‘ anhu-, that the Messenger of Allaah ‘alaihi wasallam was asked about fasting day‘ Asura. He replied, "(That fasting) takes away sin one year ago". (HR. Muslim: 2746).
C. It is highly recommended to be added in order to fast on the ninth day, as mentioned in the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim:
عن عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما يقول حين صام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عاشوراء وأمر بصيامه قالوا يا رسول الله إنه يوم تعظمه اليهود والنصارى فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فإذا كان العام المقبل إن شاء الله صمنا اليوم التاسع قال فلم يأت الْعَامُ الْمُقْبِلُ حَتَّى تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
"Narrated from Abdullah bin‘ Abbas radhiallahu ‘anhuma that he said," When the Messenger of Allaah ‘alaihi wa sallam when fasting on the day of 'Ashura' and ordered (the command of sunnah) man to fast, the companions said, Rasul O Messenger of Allah! In fact today is a day that is glorified by Jews and Christians. 'The Messenger of Allaah ‘alaihi wa sallam also said,‘ When coming next year, God willing, we will fast on the 9th (Muharram). Said Abdullah bin Abbas "Not yet had the next year arrived, it turns out that the Messenger of Allaah‘ alaihi wa sallam died. "(HR Muslim: 1134/2666)
D. Even better if you add the Eleven Day as mentioned in a narration from a friend Abdullah ibn Abbas:
"Be your fasting on the day of 'Ashuro' and contrast with the Jews, (ie) rest on yourselves the day before or the day after." (HR. Ibn Khuzaimah: 2095) .E. More than that fasting throughout the month Muharom was as good month for fasting as mentioned by the Prophet in the hadith mentioned Imam Muslim: أفضل الصيام بعد رمضان شهر الله المحرم, وأفضل الصلاة بعد الفريضة صلاة الليل "The best kind of fasting after Ramadan is fasting in the month of Muharom , and the best prayers after prayer fard is evening prayers (HR. Muslim No: 2755).
2. Read Prayer below Every Day Starting 01-10 Muharrom.
اللهم إنك قديم وهذا العام جديد قدأقبل وسنة جديدة قد أقبلت نسألك من خيرها ونعوذ بك من شرها ونستكفيك فواتها وشغلها فارزقنا العصمة من الشيطان الرجيم اللهم إنك سلطت علينا عدوا بصيرا بعيوبنا ومطلعا على عورتنا من بين أيدينا ومن خلفنا وعن أيماننا وعن شمائلنا يرانا هو وقبيله من حيث لا نراهم, اللهم آيسه منا كما آيسته من رحمتك وقنطه منا كما قنطته من عفوك, وباعد بيننا وبينه كما حلت بينه وبين مغفرتك, إنك قادر على ذلك, وأنت الفعال لما يريد, وصلى الله تعالى على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم.
O Allah, the new year has come, I ask for his kindness and take refuge from his ugliness, so take care of me from the temptations of Satan. Dear Allah ! You have made Satan as my enemy who knows my weaknesses, Satan can see me but I cannot see him. So make Shetan despair to tempt me and do not make him a forgiving barrier for MU. You are the Essence of the Almighty.
3. Muharram 10th Special Practice (Hari ‘Asyura).
- Turn on the night of 10 Muharrom with lots of praying, reading the Quran, and evening prayers. Some scholars have read verses 360yi on the 10th night, and this is good if followed.
- Read حسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل نعم المولى ونعم النصير 70 x
- Read the prayer below 7 x:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم سبحان الله ملء الميزان ومنتهى العلم ومبلغ الرضا وزينة العرش لا ملجأ ولا منجا من الله إلا إليه سبحان الله عدد الشفع والوتر وعدد كلماته التامات كلها أسألك السلامة كلها برحمتك يا أرحم الراحمين ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله العلي العظيم وهو حسبي ونعم الوكيل نعم المولى ونعم النصير وصلى الله تعالى على نبينا خير خلقه سيدنا محمد وعلى لله وصحبه وسلم أجمعين
- Perform 10 day rituals ‘Asyuro (10 Muharrom):
* 2 rakaat prayers (with the intention to ask for safety)
* Fasting (‘Asyuro), Faidah: forgiven his sins in the past year.
* Silaturrahim
* Shodaqoh
* Bath
* Wearing pigtails
* Visiting pious people
* Visiting sick people
* Support orphans
* Provides spacious shopping for families
