Night Life in Bali - Jakarta , Indonesia

Where to Party in Bali

Bali's top nightlife venues and best clubs are mostly spread throughout its southern regions of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, and several spots around Bukit. Bali club scene mostly starts around midnight. Diversions come in the form of nightclubs, restaurants and bars - either stand-alone or in-house hotel dining and entertainment outlets.
Here we present you our compiled list of Bali Top 10 Best Clubs, to help you enjoy the best night out with friends and companions. These popular night spots and in-places feature all the right combination of sights, sounds, signature tastes and surroundings.

Ku De Ta Bali

Upscale Beachside Dining and Nightlife in Seminyak

Ku De Ta Bali is one of Bali's most prominent hotspots, often considered the trendsetter for upscale nightlife and beach dining venues in Seminyak, which eventually inspired other similar enterprises all over the island.
The black-clad staff and the unique layout features a main restaurant area, a dedicated bar, a centrepiece lawn bordering the beachfront where all special events take place, and a special private loft for secluded VIP-style moments. All combine to give this one-stop dining and chill-out spot its island- and nationwide reputation.
Ku Du Ta Bali continues to appeal to the Bali international dining and nightlife scene with its lively setup in a gorgeous beachside setting with ‘French bistro-esque’ features and many different favourite cosy corners to discover. Ku De Ta is also home to Mejekawi, a modern restaurant offering locally-influenced haute cuisine.Besides Chef Davenport’s vast array of international selections in which he also incorporates the latest approaches in food preparations, such as 'sous vide' low-temperature cooking, Ku De Ta Bali is best known for its lounge-style large parasol-shaded beachfront-bordering lawn and area, host to various private and international scale fashion shows, splurges, as well as community and charity events.

Hu’u Bar & Grill

A Favourite Watering Hole in Seminyak

Hu’u Bar is among the most celebrated venues on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, an area frequently dubbed Bali’s ‘eat street’. The venue is part of the Hu’u brand that also features a restaurant and luxury accommodation facilities. Hu’u first opened in 2001 and has since enjoyed success with crowds of partygoers and diners from around the world.
Hu’u Bar features four main open spaces which also serve as stand-alone mini venues or as a whole, namely a main building that houses the bar and lounge, a private dining room complete with a wine cellar, the pool decks with an al fresco garden space and the main restaurant area that serves the fine creations of Chef Philip Mimbimi.
The moniker Hu’u is taken from the name of an atoll, a surfing haven off the coast of Sumbawa, in the Lesser Sunda Islands which the venue’s founder fell in love with. Hu’u Bar covers an extensive 4,300sqm and was conceived as a multi-concept international leisure spot.
The whole venue, best known for its bar and grill, was designed to serve as a retreat, merging its recently launched luxury accommodation options with its established epicurean highlights and lively night beats.

Jakarta Nightlife 2014

Jakarta nightlife has changed quite a bit since my previous guides: "Jakarta Nightlife 2011", "Jakarta Nightlife 2012" and "Jakarta Nightlife Tips". Before you head out tonite, these are the latest trends in the Jakarta's partying scene:

The new center of Jakarta nightlife in 2014 is in SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District), in the ex-Bengkel area. In 2 years, many bars and clubs have opened there and they attract the wealthy, trendy youth of Jakarta:
To have a drink, try Lucy in the Sky, Potato Head Garage, Beer Garden, Canos in Foundry 8
For clubbing: Fable (Young crowd, Jakarta International School) or Empirica (Upper Class Indo Chinese).
These places do not have too many tourists or expatriates yet.
Apart from that area, two new clubs worth trying have opened in 2013: Alibi on Rasuna Said (replacing JackRabbit) and the popular Exodus from the Stadium group.

Immigrant was still on top of the game when it closed down for renovation a few months ago. We can expect it will still be popular with a more mature crowd (25-45 years old) when it reopens.

Dragonfly, Red Square and X2 now attract mostly foreigners and girls looking for foreigners, with a varying proportion of working girls in each (high in Red Square, lower in X2 and Dragonfly). Equinox in X2 is always full on weekends but the crowd is not as upper class as it used to be.

The following bars/lounge/restaurants are usually always busy with expats on weekend nights: Loewy, Bluegrass, Aphrodite, Liquid Exchange, Social House, Cork & Screw, Union, Potato Head, Eastern Promise, De Hooi, Fez, Face Bar, Awan Lounge, Molly Malone's, Murphy's, Black Cat, Melly's, Vin +. Level 5 of Grand Indonesia is nice too with many new cafés like Warung Kopi Tinggi, H5, Ismaya Catering Co.
