Apple iPad event 'to be held on October 16'

Apple iPad event 'to be held on October 16'

Apple's iPad event is now rumoured to be held on October 16 and not 21, as previously reported

Apple's new iPad Air is thinner, lighter and more powerful than its predecessor

Apple is said to be hosting its iPad event on October 16 and not the 21 as was previously believed, according to a new report.
Re/code has reported the event will also feature some new Mac models, alongside additions to the iPad line.
The event is expected to follow the precedent set by 2013, which saw Apple unveil the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display at a media event on October 22, before the devices went on sale to consumers in early November.
Fresh reports suggest that one of these will be an “iPad Air 2”, thought to be a continuation of the current iPad model, and the other a 12.9 inch “iPad Pro”.
Taiwan-based website Technews reports that the iPad Pro will be a larger, faster version of the current tablet. It will have a larger screen and also a faster A8X processor than current models, the same chip which is included inside the latest iPhone models.
The Air version will reportedly retain the A8 processor from the current line-up, but will come equipped with 2GB of RAM.
The website claims that the iPad Pro will go on sale from April 2015.
The new full-sized iPads has been rumoured to be available in gold, a colour which has proved immensely popular since its introduction with the iPhone 5s. The rear metal cover will be added to the silver and grey shades already available for the lighter iPad Air
