al-Sirri said, one of the Sufis, once said, "It has been three decades I
pray to God just because al-hamdulillah speech that comes out of my
mouth" Of course a lot of people get confused by that statement and
asked him, "How is it can this be? "
Sirri said, "At that time I had a shop in Baghdad. Once I heard the news that Baghdad market charred by fire, when the shop was in the market. I hasten to go there to ascertain whether or not the shop is on fire? Someone then told me, "The fire did not spread to ketokomu" I say, "Thank God!" Then it occurred to me, "Is it just you who are in this world? Although the store is not on fire, is not the shops that burned many others. You say: God bless you show that you are grateful that the fire did not burn your shop. Thus, you will be willing to shops others do not burn as long as your shop on fire! So I said to myself again, "Is that a little sadness over the disaster that befell many in your heart, O Sirri?" (Here Sirri quoted saying of the Prophet, "He spent the next without observing the affairs of the Muslims, will not it includes from them (the Muslims) "). It's been 30 years that I pray to Allah that speech.
The story of al-Sirri Saqathi is an example of negative self-love that we can say as selfishness. Love yourself, as this closes the door to all forms of genuine concern for others. People who are selfish only interested in himself, he wants everything for himself, does not feel the joy of giving and just happy to accept. The outside world only in terms of what he can get. He was not interested in observing the needs of others and do not appreciate the nature and integrity. These kind of people can not see anything other than himself. He considered every person or others just because of side benefits for himself. Basically, this kind of person does not have the ability to love.This form of self-love is not something that actually realized. This kind of love is really just a form of love someone to himself. Therefore love yourself like this should be eliminated. Instead of self-love which is fithrah that in every human being as a desire to glorify themselves, purify themselves and things like that certainly can not be ignored or even removed. Improvements and enhancements to self (nafs) actually a must and a necessity for people to make it happen.
